Where It All Began

Run by husband and wife team Gary and Leanne Rourke, ours may be a food business adventure that has only just begun – but it is one built on a passion for pies that has been cooked up over years.

When Gary lost his long-standing job in IT at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, it provided the perfect opportunity for him to dust off his apron and perfect his pie-making skills to pass the time in lockdown.

A lifelong passion

With a lifelong love of cooking – and a penchant for pies – Gary’s homemade creations soon became the talk of the town.

After passing the family taste test, the couple began selling their pies through social media and then on market stalls – before taking a leap of faith to open their very own shop in Birmingham. And so Rourke’s was born.

While Rourke’s has progressed from home kitchen to the High Street, Rourke’s pies are still made with the same love, care, attention – and top quality ingredients – as the ones that set tongues wagging in the local community during lockdown.

Handmade Piefection

All of the pies are individually handmade with traditional artisan pastry and locally sourced ingredients. Customers are guaranteed that there is no cheap meat, stingy fillings or soggy pastry in any Rourke’s pies!

Spurred on by the pandemic to pursue our passion, Rourke’s is a business borne out of hard work and creativity with strong family values at its heart – and we look forward to welcoming you to share a slice of piefection for yourself.
